Walter comes home from work to find his baby, Logan, crying uncontrollably. His wife, Abby, is distraught, unable to soothe him. Determined to help, Walter checks the crib and is shocked to find only a dictaphone playing Logan’s cries and a ransom note. It demands $200,000, threatening that they’ll never see their baby again if they go to the police.
Despite Abby’s objections, Walter suspects a janitor he’d once mistreated and reports the kidnapping to the police. Soon after, they receive a text warning them against involving authorities, forcing Walter to pay the ransom.
However, things take a dark turn when Walter realizes that Abby, who had been acting strangely, was involved in Logan’s kidnapping. With fake ransom money and the help of the police, Walter sets a trap. Abby and her accomplice, Walter’s own brother James, are arrested at the hospital where Abby falsely claimed Logan needed urgent medical care. In a final twist, Abby reveals that Logan isn’t Walter’s biological son but James’s. Nonetheless, Walter vows to adopt Logan and raise him, leaving Abby and James to face justice.
